Moss Control

Winter can be a tough time for lawns.  Constant rain, especially in the shade, leads to moss growth which we fight every year.  Moss is difficult to prevent, but easy to control.  Some think it's caused by a pH problem and can be controlled by lime treatment.  This is incorrect as lime has no impact on moss.  Moss is caused by our wet winter conditions. 

We treat moss with liquid iron application which kills it quickly.   However, it regrows every year requiring annual or twice annual treatment, December/January and April/May.  We highly recommend twice annual treatment to maintain healthy turf through our dark wet winters.  Although normally considered an enhanced service, moss treatment is relatively inexpensive.
